Precision Remanufacturing for the Cummins ISB 6.7 Platform
The Cummins ISB 6.7 EGR Cooler (4946088NX) is remanufactured in-house by Turbo Kings to restore OEM cooling performance and long-term reliability for 2007 – 2010 ISB engines.
Every core is completely disassembled, exposing the coolant and exhaust channels for full internal access. Components are first cleaned in a heated alkaline detergent bath, formulated to dissolve baked-on carbon, soot, and oil contamination without damaging brazed joints or stainless tubes. This stage ensures all passages are open for unrestricted exhaust-gas and coolant flow.
Following detergent treatment, each housing is immersed in a 48-hour mild acid bath using a balanced citric- and phosphoric-acid blend. This controlled descaling step eliminates oxidation, rust, and coolant-scale buildup that often cause hot spots and efficiency loss. Once descaled, every component is rinsed and chemically neutralized to prevent flash corrosion.
Any cracks, pinholes, or fatigue marks discovered during inspection are TIG-weld re-fabricated using precision jigs that preserve OEM geometry. After repair, each cooler is pressure-tested to 125 PSI while submerged to confirm complete separation between coolant and exhaust circuits. Only coolers passing leak-free validation move on to drying and finishing.
What Makes a Turbo Kings Rebuild Different
Turbo Kings remanufactures EGR coolers using industrial processes comparable to OEM rebuild standards.
Our aqueous hot-alkaline cleaning penetrates deeper than solvent washes, removing heavy contamination while maintaining the structural integrity of internal seams.
The 48-hour acid-descaling phase is carefully timed to clear internal corrosion without over-etching or weakening the metal. After treatment, each unit is neutralized, compressed-air purged, and oven-dried, leaving zero chemical residue or trapped moisture.
TIG-weld reconditioning restores structural integrity, ensuring each cooler withstands the high thermal cycling common to Cummins ISB applications.
Before packaging, technicians verify gasket-surface flatness, flange alignment, and port geometry to guarantee direct bolt-on installation and long-term sealing reliability.
Why Fleets and Owner-Operators Trust Turbo Kings
Turbo Kings EGR Coolers are built for fleets that demand OEM-grade performance without downtime. Our strict test standards and repeatable reman workflow ensure each unit performs flawlessly under heavy load and extended idle conditions.
