At Turbo Kings, every Detroit TF-550 “107622X” air compressor is rebuilt through a complete in-house process designed to deliver OEM performance, verified reliability, and consistent output under real-world load.
Built by Bendix and supplied to Detroit Diesel for the Series 60 12.7-liter engines used between 1998 and 2004, this compressor remains one of the most widely used and trusted systems across the Class 8 trucking industry.

The TF-550 is a two-cylinder, water-cooled compressor that drives air to the braking, suspension, and emissions-control systems. It operates in harsh thermal and mechanical cycles, which means every rebuild must address not just sealing but internal wear, flow balance, and thermal stability.
At Turbo Kings, that’s where our process starts — not ends.

Each core is fully disassembled and media-cleaned before inspection. Cylinder bores are measured for taper and scoring; crank journals and bearing pockets are gauged for distortion. All pistons, bearings, crank assemblies, and valve plates are replaced using Bendix-spec OEM-grade components, restoring precise compression and consistent flow rates.

All air and coolant passages are ultrasonically cleaned, a step that removes scale, carbon, and oil residue from deep internal galleries that ordinary washing can’t reach. This ensures unrestricted airflow, proper coolant circulation, and uniform temperature control once the compressor is installed.

After reassembly, every unit undergoes a closed-loop flow and pressure test at simulated engine speed, verifying cut-in/cut-out performance, oil-carryover limits, and check-valve integrity. Leak checks, torque validation, and final lubrication are completed before serial logging and documentation.

This isn’t a surface refresh — it’s a precision restoration executed entirely inside the Turbo Kings facility.

What Makes a Turbo Kings Rebuild Different

Bendix OEM Foundation – Each unit is built on genuine Bendix engineering, restored to Detroit Diesel specifications for 12.7 L engines.
In-House Flow & Pressure Testing – Compressors are bench-run at 5 GPM / 2000 PSI equivalent load to verify performance under stress.
Ultrasonic Cleaning – Air and coolant lines are ultrasonically treated to remove deposits without damaging metal surfaces.
Precision Machining – Decks, heads, and valve seats are refinished to OEM tolerances, ensuring tight compression and sealing.
Pre-Lubricated & Ready to Install – Every compressor leaves our dock filled with fresh lubricant and sealed for immediate installation.
Warranty Confidence – Supported by a 12-month, unlimited-mileage warranty, reflecting our confidence in every rebuild.

Why Fleets and Owner-Operators Trust Turbo Kings

Fleet managers, independent shops, and long-haul owner-operators choose Turbo Kings because reliability isn’t just promised — it’s measured.
Each compressor is individually tested under realistic load, its serial number tied to digital test data and core traceability records.
Our technicians work directly with customers, providing transparent rebuild information, rapid turnaround, and OEM-level support without third-party intermediaries.

Whether you manage a line-haul fleet or maintain a single truck, a Turbo Kings-rebuilt TF-550 means lower downtime, cleaner air systems, and predictable maintenance intervals.
