Precision Remanufacturing Backed by Real Testing

At Turbo Kings, every Detroit R23522122 air compressor is rebuilt through a controlled, data-driven process designed to restore OEM output and durability while providing complete traceability and verified performance.
Originally manufactured by Bendix and installed by Detroit Diesel on Series 60 12.7-liter engines from 1998 to 2004, this compressor is part of the proven TF-550 two-cylinder, water-cooled platform used across thousands of Freightliner and Western Star Class 8 trucks.

We don’t reseal or cosmetically refresh units — we rebuild, calibrate, and validate each compressor to match or exceed original production standards.
Each core is fully disassembled, degreased, and media-cleaned before inspection. Cylinder bores are gauged for taper, valves are checked for seating accuracy, and crank assemblies are examined for wear or fatigue.
All critical internal components — pistons, bearings, connecting rods, and valve assemblies — are replaced with Bendix-spec OEM-grade parts, ensuring balanced compression and consistent air delivery under heavy-duty operation.

Every air and coolant passage is ultrasonically cleaned, a deep-clean process that eliminates scale, carbon, and oil residue trapped inside internal galleries. This restores unrestricted airflow and optimal heat transfer, allowing the compressor to run cooler and maintain stable pressure cycles.

Following assembly, each unit is tested on a closed-loop hydraulic bench that replicates live engine conditions. Pressure build rates, cut-in/cut-out thresholds, oil carry-over, and leak integrity are measured and documented. Only compressors that meet full Bendix and Detroit Diesel standards are approved for release.

This is not outsourced or batch-verified — it’s performed in-house by Turbo Kings technicians with direct diesel systems experience.

What Makes a Turbo Kings Rebuild Different

Bendix OEM Foundation – Each compressor is built on genuine Bendix engineering and restored to Detroit Diesel 12.7 L specifications.
In-House Flow & Pressure Testing – Units are bench-run at engine-load equivalents to verify full functional performance.
Ultrasonic Cleaning – Air and coolant lines receive ultrasonic cleaning for contaminant-free airflow and cooling balance.
Precision Machining – Heads, seats, and mating surfaces are resurfaced to OEM flatness tolerances to prevent leakage.
Pre-Lubricated & Ready to Install – Each unit ships filled with fresh lubricant and sealed for direct installation.
Warranty Confidence – Backed by a 12-month, unlimited-mileage warranty with serialized test records retained in our system.

Why Fleets and Owner-Operators Trust Turbo Kings

Fleets and service professionals depend on Turbo Kings rebuilds because performance is proven, not promised.
Every compressor is pressure- and flow-tested under dynamic conditions, with results linked to its serial ID.
Our technicians specialize in air and brake-system components, allowing precise rebuild standards and consistent turnaround times.
With traceable cores, verified testing, and direct technical support, fleets can reduce downtime while maintaining OEM-grade reliability.
