OEM Precision Built for Heavy-Duty Reliability
The Knorr-Bremse 5018485X air compressor was the factory-installed model on Caterpillar C13 and C15 ACERT engines between 2006 and 2009, powering air brake and suspension systems on Freightliner, Peterbilt, Kenworth, and International trucks.
Manufactured under Caterpillar specification by Knorr-Bremse, this two-cylinder, water-cooled unit was designed for high thermal efficiency and extended duty cycles. Its robust cast-iron crankcase and precision-machined aluminum head combine heat management and strength, allowing consistent performance across long-haul and vocational applications.
Each compressor leaving Turbo Kings is not merely repaired — it is fully remanufactured to meet or exceed OEM performance standards. Every core is completely disassembled, ultrasonically cleaned, resurfaced, and tested before reassembly. This ensures that every 5018485X we produce operates with the same precision, airflow, and reliability that Knorr-Bremse engineered into the original design.
Full Rebuild and Machining Process
The rebuild process begins with complete disassembly down to the bare castings. Components are separated, labeled, and inspected for cracks or dimensional wear.
Both air and water passages are ultrasonically cleaned, ensuring the removal of carbon, scale, and sludge buildup that can restrict cooling and airflow. The crankshaft journals, rods, and bores are measured and refinished to restore original clearances.
All sealing and wear components — including pistons, rings, bearings, valve plates, and gaskets — are replaced with OEM-grade parts or better. Cylinder decks and sealing faces are precision-machined to eliminate warping or micro-leaks that compromise performance.
After reassembly, every compressor is pressure-tested under load, verifying oil control, airflow stability, and pressure consistency at rated output. Each unit must meet OEM specifications before it leaves our facility.
Testing and Quality Assurance
Every Turbo Kings compressor is subjected to a bench-test cycle replicating real-world operation. Test parameters include cut-in and cut-out response, discharge flow, oil carryover, and cooling efficiency under continuous operation.
Units are pre-lubricated and sealed, shipped ready for installation with no pre-run procedure required. All test data and serial numbers are logged for internal traceability and warranty support.
This ensures that every Knorr-Bremse 5018485X compressor from Turbo Kings performs to the same output and endurance standards that fleets demand from OEM equipment.
